1. Never leave a burning candle  unattended.
2. Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets.
3. Avoid burning candles near flammable or combustible materials.
4. Candles should always be burned in proper candle holders or bases.
5. Keep lit candles out of drafts.
6. To reduce soot, wicks should be trimmed to 1/4″ from wax.
7. Glass  containers may become hot. Always burn candle on a protected surface.
8. Avoid moving lit candles and discontinue use when 1/2″ of wax  remains.
9. Keep candle wax free of matches, wick trimmings, and debris.
10. Extinguish candles when they get within 2″ of their holders or  decorations.
11. Always use care when extinguishing a flame.
12. Use a candle snuffer, candle  dipper, or blow candle out gently. NEVER USE WATER
13. Burning candles can be a fire hazard. Before any candle is lit, carefully  secure all candles in their holders. If the candles are a part of a  decorative arrangement, make sure that the candles are placed a safe  distance from any flammable material.
14. A candle will burn more slowly and evenly if its refrigerated before  using.
15. Wrap the candle in plastic or foil before refrigerating to prevent  wicks from absorbing moisture.
16. Candles should be stored flat (to prevent warping) in a cool, dark, dry  place.
17. Before dinner or a party, light and extinguish the candles. They will  light more quickly and easily when you are ready to use them.
18. Votive candles must be in a container.  They are made of a low melt wax.  The tighter the fit the longer the candle will burn.
19. When blowing out a candle, hold your finger a safe distance in front of  the flame and  blow at it. The air will flow around the finger and extinguish  the candle from both sides. This will prevent hot wax from splattering.
20. Store candles in a cool, dry place. Direct sunlight may fade the color  and prevent a candle from burning evenly.
21. An old nylon stocking is great for polishing candles and removing  fingerprints.
22. To prevent uneven burning or dripping, keep wicks trimmed at least   1/4″.
23. For visual interest, a candle should be either taller or shorter than the  holder, but not the same height.
24. Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle flame with minimum smoke.  This also helps prevent wax spills.
